Continental Magazine, November 2000

The amazing story of Continental flight attendant Paula Grecco and her husband, Michael Modzelewski, reached new heights after Modzelewski completed the Angeles Crest 100 Mile Endurance Run in 1992. As a result of preparing for and completing the run, he wrote Angeles Crest: A Memoir. The book is an account of what it’s like to maximize human potential and explore the depths of spiritual understanding by running 100 continuous miles through wild country.

A year before the race, Modzelewski wrote Inside Passage: Living with Killer Whales, Bald Eagles and Kwakiutl Indians. The story is based on an 18-month stay on a wilderness island along the rugged coastline between Washington and Alaska. Modzelewski is also a travel writer, a motivational speaker and co-host of EarthWise on the Outdoor Life TV Network.

Grecco and Modzelewski have led an extraordinary life together. On assignment for various media outlets, they have explored remote places, from the Alaskan wilderness to the Venezuelan rain forest.

Modzelewski is running the Continental-sponsored New York City Marathon this month. He has finished a total of 50 marathons and his ultimate goal is to complete 100 around the world.
